Easy to plant, no need to thin out!
A very high-yielding variety of cylindrical beetroot. Monogerm (single-sprout), dark red, smooth. Disease resistant. Suitable for all types of processing (boiling, pickling, storage).
* Cultivation.
Beetroot grows best on rich, fertile soils with a neutral reaction. On heavy soils, it should be grown on ridges.
The best predecessors are early potatoes, cucumber, onions, pumpkin, zucchini.
In autumn, humus is applied to the beetroot plot, the soil is limed if necessary, and in spring a complex mineral fertilizer is applied.
Seeds on tape are laid out in late April - early May in furrows 2-4 cm deep with row spacing of 25-30 cm. The tape ensures the optimal distance between plants.
Thinning is not required. Further care consists of loosening, regular feeding, and watering.
Beetroot seeds can also be sown before winter in late October - early November.
* It is hard to find a garden where beetroot does not grow...
Its roots of the most diverse shapes - from round to cylindrical - are widely used in cuisine for preparing many dishes: borsch, soups, salads, side dishes.
But, as it turned out, ancient farmers who first paid attention to this vegetable did not even suspect the edible qualities of its roots.
However, the wild ancestors of our garden beetroot did not have roots similar to those growing in our gardens. There were small thickenings on the roots and tender leaves with juicy petioles. It was for the sake of these very leaves that man began to cultivate beetroot.
This happened a long time ago: many centuries BC. So beetroot became a salad plant. As we already know, it didn't end there.
Man, as is known, is a curious creature, and in some cases, his curiosity becomes the cause of large and small discoveries.
People noticed that some beetroot plants grow relatively thick roots. They turned out to be quite edible to the taste.
Having become convinced of this, ancient farmers began to purposefully select specimens with the thickest roots. Thus began the history of modern table beetroot.
